It's Heeeere

I wasn't going to do anything about the rain that started Thursday afternoon. Keep in mind, we haven't had any rain in 35 or so days. You guys have seen your share, I'm sure, but last night was a doozy.

We have an area called Rams Horn Grade just down the street from the house. It's 2 1/2 miles of switchback road ending in the town of Volcano itself. Along the side of the road is the usual drain ditches cut by the county to funnel the water to the tubes that run under the road and then down the hill.

This morning I had to run to Pine Grove to get a couple of things from the market and I noticed that we had so much water last night, that the leaves and other debris in the ditches had moved out of the ditch and all over the road in piles up to 6 inches deep. That's a lot of water.

We're waiting for the next wave that will get here just in time for the Giants/49'ers game tomorrow afternoon. Should be quite the mud bowl.

Next week, starting Tuesday, will be dry and I'll be rolling back out to the lakes. Couple of posts back, I mentioned an in-progress rod holder. I've finished the second try and am going to give it a shot then. Once perfected, I'll do a post on all the trials and errors.

Till then.

Mark

  1. All the weather has decided to hit at once. Sequoia just got it's first real snow of the year, I am tempted to head up there and check it out.

Sorry you guys are getting all the rain and yes you need it but not Sunday night. My Giants need all the help they can get and rain may only add to their misery.

  3. Since I am a Broncos fan, wish we were playing Sunday. We have had nothing but rain in my area so far in January. Very unusual to say the least. Anyway, stay as dry as possible and happy hook ups once the weather breaks.
