Happy 4th of July

As we celebrate our Nations Birthday, one would not want to forget our hero's. I saw an article on the news this morning about how the fireworks (and boy were they loud last night here at La Casa Kautz) can affect someone who has been to war.

I know I've told you before, but I have a friend who was one of the last 11 soldiers on the roof of the American Embassy in Saigon when Vietnam fell.

I've seen him go into a trance like state caused by a picture or just hearing a certain noise. Back to the article this morning, They were talking about how the noises from fireworks will trigger PTSD. I can see how it could happen just from the noise last night.

So lets remember that it was those hero's and what they went through, that keeps us free.

Happy 4th everyone.

Oh, if you're on the water, wear a PFD. We've already lost a couple this weekend because of not wearing one.

  1. Mark, I can relate very closely with what you have talked about here. Even though, I celebrate and honor our nations Independence Day with my family and friends,it is my least favorite holiday and I am so thankful when it is over! Loud explosions still cause me to hit the floor and cause a very unsettling time for me and those close too me. Thank you for your support!

  2. Here's hoping you found a quiet stream, far from the noise and full of rising fish on your Nation's Birthday...
