A Little Humor For Your Friday.

Everything has been so negative lately I thought a little humor might be called for.

RED SKELTON'S RECIPE FOR THE PERFECT MARRIAGE
1. Two times a week we go to a nice restaurant, have a little beverage, good food and companionship. She goes on Tuesdays, I go on Fridays.
2. We also sleep in separate beds. Hers is in California and mine is in Texas.
3. I take my wife everywhere, but she keeps finding her way back.
4. I asked my wife where she wanted to go for our anniversary. "Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!" she said. So I suggested the kitchen.
5. We always hold hands. If I let go, she shops.
6. She has an electric blender, electric toaster and electric bread maker. She said "There are too many gadgets, and no place to sit down!" So I bought her an electric chair.
7. My wife told me the car wasn't running well because there was water in the carburetor. I asked where the car was. She told me, "In the lake."
8. She got a mud pack and looked great for two days. Then the mud fell off.
9. She ran after the garbage truck, yelling, "Am I too late for the garbage?" The driver said, "No, jump in!".
10. Remember: Marriage is the number one cause of divorce.
11. I married Miss Right. I just didn't know her first name was 'Always'.
12. I haven't spoken to my wife in 18 months. I don't like to interrupt her.
13. The last fight was my fault though. My wife asked, "What's on the TV?"
I said, "Dust!".
Can't you just hear him say all of these?

I love it. These were the good old days when humor didn't have to start with a four letter word or political. It was just clean and simple fun. And he always ended his programs with the words, "And May God Bless"with a big smile on his face.

Stay tuned.

The Latest On The Caldor Fire

I'm not one for praying, but I'm certainly hoping that my son's home doesn't become a fire statistic.

Below is the Cal Fire map from this morning. The dotted line is the perimeter of the fire as of this morning. Currently 136,643 acres with 12% containment.

The second picture is what we're concerned with. If you double click and make it big, on the left side you see Sierra Springs. Below the name are 2 small green squares. The one on the bottom is where my son's house is. Inside the dotted line.

We are hoping for the best.

Stay tuned.

Another Fire Update

As of this morning.

Caldor Fire - 98,149 acres   0% containment. My son will probably not be allowed to return to his home for a couple weeks.

Dixie Fire - 721,298 acres   37% containment.

Monument Fire - 147,323  16% containment.

McFarland Fire - 116,423 acres  64% containment

It must still be Summer. California is still on fire.

Stay tuned.

New Evacuations

Had we still lived in Volcano.

These are voluntary evacuations as of this morning.

Amador County

  • Shenandoah Road at the Amador County line west through the River Pines community, continuing west on Shenandoah Road to Ostrom Road
  • South on Ostrom Road to Jibboom Street, west on Jibboom Street to Fiddletown Road
  • East on Fiddletown Road to Hale Road
  • South on Hale Road to Shake Ridge Road
  • East on Shake Ridge Road to Charleston Road
  • South of Charleston Road to the intersection of Charleston Road and Rams Horn Grade. This is downtown Volcano.
  • Due east to Highway 88 at Tiger Creek Road
  • Tiger Creek Road east to Salt Springs Reservoir Road
  • East on Salt Springs Reservoir Road to the east end of the Salt Springs Reservoir
  • Due north from the east end of Salt Springs Reservoir to Highway 88
The part in Bold Red, that's where we lived.

The part about Shenandoah Road, that's where all the wineries are. That would definitely be alcohol abuse.

California Continues To Burn

There are currently 12 fires burning in California alone. The biggest is the Dixie Fire of course. As of this morning 635,728 acres with 33% containment. It's been burning for 35 days.

The Caldor Fire has only been burning 4 days. It has currently burned 53,772 acres. It started near a little town called Omo Ranch and spread in a North East direction. It blew through the town of Grizzly Flats just like the Dixie Fire blew through Greenville. Not much left in either town.

The Caldor Fire is the one I'm watching the most. Evacuations include a lot of towns I'm familiar with. One place they has evacuated is what's called the Sly Park area. Sly Park road runs from Pleasant Valley to Pollock Pines. Just happens my son lives off this road and yes, he has been evacuated. He's currently hanging out at a campground along the American River in a town called Coloma. How do you know the town of Coloma? That is where gold was first discovered in the tailrace of John Sutter's mill.

The fire has burned almost to Highway 50 and the latest evacuation as of this morning is the town of Kyburz. Kyburz has quite a history. Don't know if you remember back in March of 1976, Andy Williams' estranged wife Claudine Longet shot and killed an Olympic skier named Spider Sabich. She claimed it was an accident, that she was showing the gun to him when it went off. She eventually when on trial and was convicted of misdemeanor criminally negligent homicide. She was fined $250.00 and served 30 in county jail mostly done on weekends over several years. Even though this event occurred in Aspen, Colorado, Spider Sabich (Vladimir Peter Sabich Jr.) hailed from Kyburz.

The experts say that this weather we're experiencing, not just in California, but all over the world, is what is going to be the norm from now on. Climate change is here to stay.

Oh, one other thing before I go, Eldorado National Forest is also closed which means, campgrounds, fishing all the upcountry lakes, or just taking a drive up the hill is on hold.

Yup, it's Summer and California is on fire.

Here's a couple photo's:

Why Wear A Mask

Watched a YouTube video by "Beau of the Fifth Column" yesterday. He was talking about an upcoming Garth Brooks concert. Garth Brooks said that if you're not wearing a mask, you will not be admitted to the concert. You can watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HSd3MflmTc

On July 6th Rick Kushman from UC Davis published an article about wearing a mask and what the benefits of doing so are.

You can read the whole article here: https://www.ucdavis.edu/coronavirus/news/your-mask-cuts-own-risk-65-percent

Here is one quote from that article I find appropriate to this post.

“People who don’t wear a mask increase the risk of transmission to everyone, not just the people they come into contact with. It’s all the people those people will have contact with. You’re being an irresponsible member of the community if you’re not wearing a mask. It’s like double-dipping in the guacamole. You’re not being nice to others.”

After a year and a half of dealing with this Covid virus and now dealing with the 4th mutation (Delta Virus) which is twice as contagious as the previous variants, I can't understand why the people out there aren't getting vaccinated or at least wearing masks.

I ask you, what is it that is stopping you?

Are you listening to all that bullshit on social media that says the vaccine is putting little tracking devices in you? Or is it the "Big Lie" conspiracy theories that allege the vaccine can cause all manner of major side effects, from infertility to permanently altering your genetics.

Do you want to die? Because 100% of the people dying from the Delta variant are unvaccinated.

There are several Governor's that are threatening the people who run schools if they mandate children wearing masks. What, do these Governor's hate children? Do they not care that there are an increasing number of children getting the Delta Variant? Are they stupid? Maybe they are. To quote Ron White "You can't fix stupid. Stupid is forever".

There are several articles out on NBC, USA Today, and others about a church in Florida that had 6 members die within 10 days. All six were unvaccinated. Four of the six were healthy young people and under the age of 35. All of a sudden the church held a vaccination clinic and 800 people got vaccinated. Didn't do a damn thing to help those 6 that died.

No one can make you get vaccinated. That's your choice.

Good luck to those who stay unvaccinated. You are certainly playing a game of Russian Roulette. Might as well use a gun that has five bullets in a six shooter.

The Delta Variant awaits you

What Are You Thinking

I just read an article on NBC that said in Louisiana, the state's coronavirus hospitalizations reached record levels Tuesday, with 2,112 people admitted. According to the Health Department, about 90 percent of them were not vaccinated.

Those being admitted are younger overall than previous surges. Younger.

Two weeks ago Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge had 36 Coronavirus patients. It now has 163.

Across the United States, the new cases are averaging 70,000 PER DAY.

What is the matter with the younger generation. This Delta Variant is highly contagious and once you get it, you can't get vaccinated until you're recovered, if you recover.

Don't those of you out there that aren't vaccinated realize, this thing is killing people. This is not your yearly flu.

I've been vaccinated and had NO side effects. My wife has been vaccinated and had a little rash on her arm. My neighbors have both been vaccinated with NO side effects.

This Delta Variant is not limited to Louisiana. The state of Florida had 50,997 new cases YESTERDAY. This thing is everywhere.

Here in California we are back to masking and social distancing again. We're back to where we were the middle of last year. WHY, because unvaccinated people are spreading the Delta Variant at an alarming rate.

Everywhere I go, I mask up. I social distance. When I get back to my truck, I sanitize everything I've touched, starting with my hands, my steering wheel, and my cane.

Researchers have found that people touch their face 16 times per hour. PER HOUR. That's the fastest way to get Covid.

You don't need to get Covid, but if you do and you've been vaccinated, it's going to be a lot easier on you.

I saw a cartoon (if you want to call it that) the other day. Guy said you're not sticking that (vaccine needle) in me! Second picture was him in a hospital bed with a tube stuck down his throat. Which would you prefer?

Get vaccinated. Your life depends on it.
